Pro Intercom has released its first dedicated wireless production intercom system targeted at the professional market. It was designed for the theatre, house-of-worship, live venue, and other performance settings. However, like any other duplex headsets, you can use them for film and television productions as well.
The new system has a peer-to-peer design structure. It can create a full-duplex communication network of up to 4 users without the need for a dedicated base station, and up to 9 users with an optional expansion hub. The expansion hub also allows for connectivity to wired Pro Intercom systems, enabling customers with existing installations to use a combination of wired and wireless Pro Intercom equipment.
By connecting to a Pro Intercom master station, it is possible to create several discrete wireless channels that still link together for control staff.
The system works on the proven 1.9GHz spectrum to provide clear, reliable audio with a minimum of interference. Headsets are available in single- and dual-ear models and feature a boom microphone with an automatic mute switch.
The headsets are fully self-contained and do not require a belt back. Batteries are claimed to last up to 10 hours and can be quickly swapped with a fully charged battery. Optional, rugged, foam-lined storage cases are also available.
If you are not familiar with Pro Intercom, they have been producing intercom systems and components for more than 25 years. Pro Intercom was acquired in 2021 by McCormick’s Group, LLC, which is a leading provider of performance materials and equipment to performing arts organizations throughout the United States and across the world.
The Pro Intercom Headsets start at $449.99 USD and they are now shipping.
The Pro Intercom Headsets face very stiff competition from much more affordable options like the Hollyland Solidcom C1 systems. You can get a Solidcom C1-4S Full-Duplex Wireless DECT Intercom System with 4 Headsets (1.9 GHz) for $999 USD.
